I love everything about my Chevy Malibu! It handles very well at all speeds and in all driving conditions from city driving to long trips. It also handles weather very well. Living in a part of the country that has hard winters, this is very important. The Chevy Malibu isn't held back by a little snow and ice! The seats are very comfortable for the driver and passengers. The roominess of the interior allows my whole family to fit comfortably, including one baby seat that fastens to the built in anchors very easily. It is great to have a USB connection to charge electronics are listen to an iPod or other devices. In addition to all of these wonderful things, the color of my Malibu is a very exciting bright red and the interior is black and gray. Even with all of the room for my whole fa... (more)
Story
I drive my Malibu in Wisconsin so there is a lot of snow to be driven through during the winter. One of those VERY snowy days, the drive to work was particularly challenging. I thought about waiting for the plows to get the roads cleared before setting out, but I went ahead and started the drive. My Malibu didn't get stuck or even slide as long as I just took it easy. I was almost to work and ... (more)
Pros
I feel very safe driving this vehicle and OnStar is at the ready just in case I have an emergency. The dashboard checks of all vital information is very helpful. I love to see that all of my tires are at the correct pressure and that all fluids are at the correct level. My Malibu also keeps records of all maintenance that has been completed and reminds me if it is time for a check up.

For the low price after rebates the Malibu is a great value. I've driven 25,000 miles in this car and haven't had any issues. There are no rattles or annoying noises like I've experienced in other cars. The factory tires are holding up reasonably well and I expect about 50,000 miles from them. I did expect better fuel economy, but an average of 27 mpg isn't bad. I can fit 3 child car seats in the back in a pinch, which didn't work in smaller cars. While the fold down rear seat is nice, the geometry of the trunk opening prevents anything exceptionally large to be stored.
Story
Driving four co-workers and myself out to lunch in Iowa after using the remote start to get the car warmed up and windows cleared of snow.
Pros
The Chevrolet Malibu is a good value and had a low price. I only ended up paying $18,500 after rebates, which is great for a new mid-sized car. It has a very nice appearance, the chrome wheels stand out and look great. The remote start is great to have in the cold winter moths in the mid-west. I haven't had any problems, even when starting and driving in -10 degrees F. The ride is relatively smooth and quiet with minimal tire noise, wind noise, and no rattles or vibrations.
Cons
It does not get exceptional fuel economy. I drive mostly Interstate miles and the fuel economy seems to drop off when driving over 65 mph. I've gotten 32-34 mpg while driving county roads at 55-60 mph, but only 28-30 when cruising 75 on the interstate. The Malibu does not have a particularly powerful engine, but it's adequate for passing, even at 75-80 mph. I didn't expect a high-performance engine, so wasn't disappointed.

2003 Chevrolet Malibu - Terrible car.

This car was gold. Purchased as a family vehicle. It was certified pre-owned when I bought it. I was looking for something that would be great on gas, effective on the road, and safe for my family. After just a year of ownership I ran into issues with the cooling and heating system, the starter, and the battery. Little did I know, over the next 3 years I would spend thousands more in repairs, new parts, even towing expenses when the car would break down. This car is really only meant for a family of 4 but you can get away with 5 people. The build quality is rather cheap and the looks aren't that impressive. I chose this make because I had heard so many wonderful things about Chevrolet. After this purchase I am definitely not inclined to purchase this vehicle again. I cannot and will no... (more)
Story
Going for road trips in Maine during Spring. Maine is a small state so you can go to many different places in a short period of time.
Pros
Small, effective, great on gas. Quiet while driving. Low exterior maintenance.
Cons
Unreliable, numerous problems with parts. Required lots of service. Because of constant breaking down - a lot of downtime.
