1997 Chevrolet Suburban - Reliable transportation; lots of cargo space

I bought this car used from a neighbor who hadn't used it in quite a while. It required a lot of work to get it going. Brake lines were a problem as was door hardware. I had a fuel pump go on it early on, and had to replace a leaking radiator after about two years. Also had to replace the blower motor -- it went out in the dead of winter. I've put over 60,000 miles on the car (odometer isn't quite 200,000 yet), and haven't had other difficulties with it. All things considered, I think that's pretty good for a vehicle that's more than 15 years old.
Story
Blower motor went out on me in the dead of winter -- windshield fogged up and I couldn't see a thing. Pulled over and called my mechanic -- he walked me through a temporary fix -- told me where I could find the blower motor location on the inside of the truck -- and suggested I bang on it with whatever I had handy. I used a long-handled windshield scraper -- worked like a charm for a couple of... (more)
Pros
Workhorse of an engine -- just keeps going and going.... Handles easily -- even for something this size Mechanics seem to have no problem fixing it -- very familiar to all of them, and parts are easy to find. Lots of people and cargo space. Great sound system.
Cons
Gas mileage is poor Door hardware is unreliable -- I've replaced it once and it needs replacing again. Rear door hinge is out as well on one side. Air conditioning isn't very good. Wish it had a handhold for the driver to use to get in.

1993 Chevrolet Suburban - Sturdy, reliable vehicle with great hauling capacity

My family has had this vehicle since I was born. It has been a sturdy and reliable vehicle since then- it has run well and has needed relatively few major fixes over the years. It has a great hauling capacity and I feel very safe driving it. My biggest complaint is the terrible gas mileage- it's very expensive to drive due to its age and size.
Story
I use this vehicle to drive my grandmother around (who can still jump up into this massive truck at age 85) and have shared a lot of memories together in that truck.
Pros
One of the best things about this vehicle is that it has tons of space for hauling or moving. I used this vehicle when moving to and from college and it had plenty of space for all of my belongings. It also seats 8, which is great for carpooling. It is also a very sturdy and reliable vehicle. It's 22 years old and has given us fewer problems than many of our (much) newer vehicles. I also feel very safe driving this vehicle due to its size and sturdiness- I know that if I were in an accident, I would probably be relatively safe.
Cons
The worst part about this vehicle, in my opinion, is that it has terrible gas mileage. As a very large truck with great space for hauling, it also comes with a very large and inefficient engine. It is also inefficient due to its age. My other complaint is that the radio is fairly limited and its speakers are weak. This type of vehicle is also very expensive these days (though it was cheap when we bought it).

This is one of the best vehicles. Even with the issues it is having, it is running along and doing what it should every day. I can count on it in any weather no matter what is happening. Great in the snow and rain and keeps me cool in the summer. Parts are fairly cheap, so it is easy to fix . Parts are also very easy to get ahold of. I would recommend this to any one looking for a lot of room and space and reliability.
Story
My daughter played smart and went in a part of the yard she was told not to go and got stuck cause she didn't have four-wheel drive. She had to unload the two kids through the mud till my son got home with the Suburban and pulled her out of the mud, which he did do. Now my granddaughter insists mommy needs a four-wheel drive.
Pros
Some of the pros are the space. Can haul pellets, well over a ton in one shot and they stay dry. Can pack up for any trip. Lots of space and comfortable too.
Cons
Gas mileage is the worst thing though. On long trips it sucks gas like crazy. Just little trips around town it isn't as bad, but anything more than running to work is crazy.
