I absolutely love our Dodge Ram 1500. The ride is exceptionally smooth. We were able to take our 80+ year old Grandmother on the vacation of her dreams in it and never once did she have any issue with back pain caused by jostling like she has in other vehicles. The cab is spacious and comfortable, whether its just my family of 3 out on a shopping trip or my husband and a cab full of guys headed to a firefighting training event. Everyone who has chanced to ride in it is always impressed at the details, capacity, and smoothness. The only complaint we’ve ever had is that its difficult to climb into since it has 22 inch wheels and we nixed the step up bar. However I will say I am only 5’1” and have not problems, so I think the issue lies in the individual’s health, not the truck manufactur... (more)
Story
We were traveling home from a vet appointment on a rainy day with average visibility going about 60 mph down the Highway 34 in Iowa. I was in the middle front with my Rat terrier next to me buckled in the front passenger seat. My husband was driving and our son and our Airedale terrier were secured in the back seat. We were in the left hand lane and off to my right side I noticed a white SUV g... (more)
Pros
There are a huge number of positive attributes that this vehicle has. First, and foremost are the safety features. The wide base and 4-wheel drive make it sure and sound on slick wintery roads in the north. The height of the truck keeps a little flash flooding and other minor road obstructions far from the frame, assuring my husband will make it home to me every night, no matter what might stand in the way of a sedan. The frame of this beast can take a hit too! Within the first 3 years of ownership we have it 3 deer and been hit by an SUV. The whole family was along for the first deer and ... (more)
Cons
In my experience there are very few if any cons, so I will start with what others have told me. The chief complaint of other passengers has been that it is difficult to get into. In their defense we do have 22” wheels and no running board. This is definitely not the first choice of vehicle for handicapped persons. However if you are “short” but in good physical condition you should have not issues. There are plenty of well positioned grab bars to aid in entry if needed. I also hear people worry about gas mileage because trucks are by, in large, for being gas guzzlers. For us, this has actu... (more)

This is the perfect vehicle for life at the beach. I have a short bed, so its easy to fit into parking spots, but big enough to haul even double kayaks ( I have worked as a kayak ecoguide), a real plus when delivering or picking up kayaks from tourists. Because I have 22" RIMS, I am high enough above the 70,000 cars each season to avoid pedestrians and other cars. This is a real concern here on the island. This truck is my hurricane kit as well. It goes through lots of water securely, and I keep it packed and ready to go. I'm pretty sure it would float! Mechanics are great, all I do is put oil and gas in it (HOPE THIS DOESN'T JINX IT!). The econo feature, which cuts cylinders in stalled traffic, works great. My mileage is about 19 mpg, which is good enough to keep me from feeling guilt... (more)
Story
Well, the bridge to get onto the island is quite high to accommodate the shrimp boats, so bringing a 6' armoire home from the thrift store was exciting. There were three adults in the front seat (fit great), and all we had was string to hold it in over the open tailgate. It worked though, no casualties.
Pros
Satellite radio, 22" rims, greatest acceleration in the universe, really. Which necessitates frequent tire rotations, but totally worth it. You know, at the risk of sounding silly (I AM a little old lady), the imposing grill and upfront presentation really help in getting out into traffic, which during season is not an easy task. (We get lots of New Yorkers here.) I can also stop on a dime when necessary. Oh yeah, the best part, when I'm waiting in traffic for hours to get off island, half my cylinders take a break, so the gas mileage is great. That's important for someone on a fixed income.
Cons
I can't really think of ANY negatives for my RAM 1500. It is a joy to own. It's a single cab, non electric anything (in case it goes into a canal), with a short bed, tow package, and 22" rims. It's perfect.

Around September of last year my wife and I bought a brand new maroon red Ram 1500 with the Hemi motor. The body of the truck is tough looking and sleek. It looks modern and upscale. The outside trim is chrome so it off sets the maroon red very nicely. We own a tire business, so the truck bed accommodates all of my needs for transporting small loads of tires, and when I need to transport a larger amount of tires the towing capacity handles that, with the ability to install a tow ball for trailer hook up. The outside paint is glossy and makes the truck shine. The inside is roomy and spacious with grey cloth interior. It comes equipped with the standard amenities that you would expect. The steering wheel has all the controls you would need to make choices on the touch screen monitor with... (more)
Pros
Pros is the comfort and roominess of a large car, but with the practicality of towing and transporting.
Cons
Not all models come with a sideboard, so initially you have to hoist yourself up to get into the truck if you are on the shorter side.
