The 2010 Volkswagen Golf is a totally solid vehicle. She's fun to drive. I have a manual transmission which, in my humble opinion is a major part of the fun. She's extremely responsive, even five years old, or should I say: five-years-young? I'm proud to drive this car. She's got very clean lines, and isn't looking dated. I don't think the car will ever look dated with the proper preventative maintenance that she deserves. I know that there are the many faster, and more gutsier versions of this car, but I am extremely happy with this version. I'm pretty proud and grateful to have been in the Volkswagen family for many years now. I have always leased the cars from VW. This car is the first one I kept. I kept her because I love her. She's German engineered through and through as well as ... (more)

This car is the perfect "Dog-Car." Sometimes I tell people that the car isn't mine. I tell 'em: "This is my dogs' car. I am just their driver." For some reason, Volkswagen driver/owners are dog people. Do you know what I mean? The next time you are driving about, pay special attention to that Touareg next to you at the perpendicular intersection. Yup, just as you suspect, there's a Great Dane ... (more)
Pros
I absolutely love this version of the Golf. Manual, and three doors. ZIPPY! That's a really good adjective I have for the car. Almost like "Herbie." Do you remember him? He's that classic Volkswagen Beetle from the Disney franchise. I guess watching those movies makes me think of this car. They're almost the same colors! What if I were to put a "Herbie" racing stripe and markings on my car? How fun?! The car is the base version, but that definitely doesn't mean boring in any way. So responsive, so fun, so solid. The Golf has an extremely long, and storied history. I guess that once Volkswa... (more)
Cons
Well I am quite an optimist so this may be a bit difficult for me to write about the negative. I guess I can try! She's got a bit of a ceiling droop, and that's completely correctable! The structure isn't drooping mind you! I'm talking about the headliner or whatever that's called. I suppose this can happen in any car. I intend to remedy this soon. My shift knob isn't intact. Again, cosmetic issue. The schematic for the gear position is in the glove box. Yes, it's meant to be on the shift knob! The car is a three-door. Sometimes I admire the same version of the car as another one drives pa... (more)

This car is very reliable. We have had this car since 2012 and have put 90,000 miles on it. We take this car on all of our long trips. It gets awesome mileage because it is a diesel engine. We can usually get any were from 400 to 600 miles on one tank before refilling. This car looks small on the outside but is quite large on the inside. We have put many things in this car. We have yet to not be able to fit something we have purchased in this car. There is a large trunk and then you can fold down the seats.
Story
We are able to speed quite fast in it. It is a manual so we can get up quite quick and was able to beat a mustang that was trying to be faster.
Pros
Diesel, Spacious, sleek looking, durable
Cons
I really don't have any cons about this vehicle at all

Although my VW Golf is an older model, it still gets along just like it was new. It is easy to drive, easy to maintain and easy to love. I have just over 176,000 miles on it and still drive it as a commuting vehicle every day. Even though it has a high mileage, I still get over 20 miles per gallon. I have had very few problems with the exception of the air conditioner, and once the faulty parts were replaced the A/C was as cold as any in newer VW cars. The other thing I like is the handling and suspension. I have no problem going over 35 MPH around a 90 degree turn. The interior is cloth, which is good in hotter states, and is still in good condition. It still gets challenged at stop lights by newer muscle cars, although never any other VWs. The VW Golf has an excellent layout ... (more)
Story
It is a fun little car to drive around town on a weekend night, with the windows open and the radio up. Around Arizona, the only time to go out and enjoy is during the fall or at night during the summer. We take this car out most weekend nights during later summer, after the monsoon storms.
Pros
Smaller two door sedan, easy to park and maneuver. Has plenty of upgrades and add-ons that can be installed to go faster or look better.
Cons
It is a smaller car and can be nerve wracking driving it in traffic with other, larger vehicles.
